I'm a member of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Beer and I support the Axe the Beer Tax campaign.

In spring 2009 I wrote to the Chancellor asking him to think again about annual increases in the tax on beer sold in pubs. With the help of local pubs in Plymouth, I also collected 1600 signatures for a petition which I presented to the House of Commons on 20 April 2009.

I am interested in this campaign because of the wider questions of how we can make improvements to the pubs and the evening and night time economy in Plymouth.
