Plymouth Sutton MP Linda Gilroy is to take part in a discussion about issues concerning Gulf War Veterans – and is asking any constituents for whom this may be relevant to get in touch.
The event, organised by the Royal British Legion on behalf of the All Party Parliamentary Gulf War Group, is scheduled to take place in the House of Commons on Tuesday 17 June 2008.
It will give MPs the opportunity to hear views of experts, the Minister and veterans on the latest developments for those suffering from Gulf War illnesses. Particular focus will be placed on the research which has been undertaken into the legacy health affects of medical counterparts (i.e. combination vaccinations) and the lessons which have been learnt. Short summaries of the important issues, by panel to include the Minister and medical experts, will be followed by a question and answer session allowing MPs to gain a deeper understanding of Gulf War veterans’ issues.
Linda Gilroy said "I spend allot of my time at Westminster focusing on the needs of our current servicemen and women, particularly those fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. But it is important that Parliamentarians – and the public – do not forget the needs of veterans".
"If there are any Gulf War Veterans living in the Plymouth Sutton constituency who have issues they would like to me to explore, then I invite them to get in touch".
Constituents can contact Linda by email (girloyb@parliament.uk) or post (Linda Gilroy MP, House of Commons, London, SW1A 0AA).
