Linda Gilroy today welcomed representatives from the campaign for an indoor Skate Park to be built in Coxside. The proposed Skate Park is to be established as a Community Interest Company - a not-for-profit organisation. It is envisaged as a hub for the youth community to meet in a safe, indoor environment.
The campaigners stress that the skate park would not merely benefit skaters in the city but all those involved in motorless sports on wheels including roller bladders and BMX – as well as being open to youth and urban dance groups.
A petition was launched to gauge interest and has already collected hundreds of signatures in support from young skaters and parents alike.
