Efford has been getting a lot of attention following the recent upsurge in anti social behaviour – in the press and from the police and local
council. I have recently visited the area alongside councillors to hear from some people directly about their concerns.
We have been working with the police on this for some time. I am pleased the Council acted quickly on the dispersal order.
There have also been some good examples of community action where young people from Efford have been part of helping to clean up the area. But the problem of anti social behaviour keeps bubbling up
and causing real problems for far too many Efford people. Much of the work which the Heart of Efford Community Group are doing will help to bring more positive things to the area – and they have
already been involving young people in saying what they would like to see.
They are holding their regular open meeting at 6pm, on Wednesday 7th November at
Highfield School where they will be reporting on how their work for the community is developing. I will be attending and as I say this is an open meeting and it
would be really good to see you there!
If you can’t come but would like to know how the meeting went please call Jane on 226626 or email her on jonesjan@parliament.uk and she will make sure you are kept up to date. Councillor
Brian Vincent will also be at the regular Efford weekly surgery from 2pm to 4pm at the “purple pod” at Highfield School every Friday and you can discuss any problems you have with him
there.
