Following her recent meeting with Prime Minister Gordon Brown about Plymouth water charges, Linda Gilroy has been praised by him for her untiring
efforts in this field.
As a result she has written to all those on her water charges database to pass on the compliment. Her letter reads “The Prime Minister was very kind to note in his letter that my efforts in this regard have been “untiring”. It
is certainly something I am not prepared to give up on, but I recognise that it is your help and persistence that have brought us this far and you too should share in the Prime Minister’s
compliment.”
Mrs Gilroy said “I have a very active group of campaigners in this area, they have been completing surveys and petitions and their feedback is what has been
invaluable. The Prime Minister has now set up a pilot study to look specifically at the cost of water for vulnerable and low income families, and as a result of our meeting he
has arranged for me to see Phil Woolas the Minister responsible for the pilot.
