   MP Welcomes Plymouth Councillor to Westminster

Linda Gilroy, MP for Plymouth Sutton, today welcomed Councillor Claude Miller to the Houses of Parliament. 

Councillor Miller was visiting London to receive his MBE. The award was presented by the Queen at a ceremony held this morning at Buckingham Palace  

Councillor Miller and his guests then joined Mrs Gilroy for a meal in the Houses of Parliament, after which they met Prime Minister Gordon Brown. 

The 92-year-old is a Labour & Co-operative Councillor for the Efford & Lipson ward of Plymouth City Council and previously served as Lord Mayor of Plymouth.  

Linda Gilroy said “It was both a pleasure and an honour to spend this special day with Claude. 

“He is a wonderful champion for older people and is thoroughly deserving of this recognition”.
