Linda Gilroy, MP for Plymouth Sutton, yesterday attended the
'Seas of Opportunities' conference at Plymouth's National Marine Aquarium where she delivered a major speech concerning climate change, renewable energy and the marine
environment.
The speech aimed to show that the issues of climate change, sustainability and resource management offer not only challenges but great opportunities,
for which Plymouth and the South West are ideally placed to take.
She told delegates "I believe Plymouth can be a global centre of excellence in coastal marine management and marine science".
Mrs Gilroy's speech also made reference to the Government’s flagship Climate Change Bill and the much anticipated Draft Marine
Bill.
