Linda Gilroy, Member of Parliament for Plymouth Sutton, today led a cross party delegation of South West MPs to meet with Water Minister Phil Woolas and South West Water Chief Executive Chris Louglin.
Among the topics under discussion were affordability, the merits of rising block tariffs and the forthcoming ‘PR09’ – the review which will set price limits for the period 2010-2015.
Linda Gilroy said “For far too long customers in the South West have faced some of the highest water charges of anywhere in the country. This has had a particularly negative impact on those with low incomes.”
“Today’s meeting is important because it is the first to involve the new water minister and also because it includes South West Water. Hopefully, these parties can all work together towards a solution which will be of real benefit to consumers”.
Later today, as Secretary of the All Party Water Group, Linda Gilroy will be attending a meeting entitled ‘After the Floods – The Government’s Priorities for the Water Sector'.
