The Strategic Arms Export Committee (formerly the Quadripartite Select Committee) exists to monitor the work of the Government in relation to the export of strategic arms and controlled goods. It produces an annual report based on the exports that have taken place over the last year.

It has a membership of sixteen MPs - four are nominated from each of the Departmental Select Committees with an interest in arms control - Defence, Foreign Affairs, International Development and Trade and Industry.

Linda place is therefore on account of her membership of the Defence Select Committee.
