Linda Gilroy, MP for Plymouth Sutton, has welcomed an announcement by the Ministry of Defence that they will undertake a review into support for Service Personnel.
A second study will aim to encourage greater public understanding and support for the
Armed Forces Secretary of State for Defence Des Browne made the announcement in a written statement released to MPs earlier today.
Linda Gilroy says “The Government has made significant progress in recent years in areas such as pay, accommodation, medical care and support for families – my own constituency has benefited from fantastic new accommodation at HMS Drake.
“However, there is much still to do if we are to counter the effect of decades of underinvestment and the strain of fighting two intense wars. I look forward to engaging with the MoD over these matters - both as a constituency MP and as a member of the Defence Select Committee”
Mrs Gilroy added “As we approach Remembrance Sunday, it is important that politicians and public alike stop and consider the sacrifice our service men and women make on our behalf and how best we can support them”
Linda Gilroy MP is always pleased to hear from constituents with (in confidence, if preferred) about their experiences and concerns in this area.
