Plymouth Sutton MP Linda Gilroy is urging local businesses to bid for their share of the £6 billion in contracts being issued by the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) over the
next five years.
“I have been approached by the ODA to encourage local businesses to compete for London 2012 contracts. I know we have the skills and talents here and I hope that we can not
only get local athletes into the games but also local businesses can get their fair share of Olympic “gold”!
Any businesses who thinks they may be able to take part, need only start by registering their interest on the London 2012
website www.london2012.com/business This will make sure they receive the information they need on the opportunities available. There is also an on line portal called CompeteFor which matches buyers with suppliers and
again I very much hope that Plymouth businesses will make sure their interest is registered.”
The ODA estimate that there will be over 75,000 business opportunities covering direct contracts and supply chains in the years up until 2012. They will also be organising a
series of events around the country to encourage more companies to come forward to bid for the work. Their intention is to make sure that the system is transparent and fair and to ensure that all
parts of the country have their chance to be a part of the Olympic legacy.
